DRESSAGE SADDLE PAD!!!?

by Admin on August 15, 2010

What kind of saddle pad do you need to use for dressage? I am in the green as grass level or introductory level which is pretty easy, hopefully. Links are appreciated!
I thought maybe a white saddle pad? Not a square one. Something like this:

Would that work?
I would be using a normal jumping saddle.

You can either use a normal brown or black numna which you won’t see under the saddle, or a white numna or square saddle pad.

EDIT: A numna is a saddle pad in the shape in your link.
The one in the link would be fine.

one that goes under a dressage saddle. I have a Toklat. Works very nicely.

Ugh, ignore my original responce – I was thinking of showing.

You want to get something that’s not too gaudy, so a darker colour or white depending on your horse’s colour. And they generally want an oblong saddle pad, that’s not too thick, one that’s built to be under a dressage saddle.

Just a white dressage saddle cloth :)
Good luck!

ADD: Sazzy – in the UK saddle cloths/numnahs are required for dressage.

I compete in training level, and have shown for over 6 years, so hopefully I can help ypu. it depends on if you are using a dressage saddle or a jumping saddle. And the color depends on how "big" the show is. like if its recognized or a little backyard show. But ialway use a white dressage pad with my dressage saddle, and at many small shows, I have seen ppl use black. it all depends on the show, and your preference. but dont use an all purpose pad with a dressage saddle, it can look tacky. but if you use a jump saddle, use a white pad, with black pipping, it makes the saddle stand out. ABSOLUTLY NO COLORS!! xcept for black. always use a saddle pad, esp in eventing. and a square one at that, contoured pads are for the hunters, eventers and dressahe ridders do not use them.
