I am going on a dude ranch vacation later this summer, and because of back problems I have, I am bringing my own saddle with dressage billets. I will need to buy a new girth that would fit the average quarter horse...any idea what length this would be? If you own a quarter horse and ride english (either jump or dressage saddle), could you tell me what length you ride in? I can convert jump to dressage pretty easily, so just let me know what type of girth you ride in! Thanks in advance!

QH’s are wide, but not too tall… around a 46-48 jumping girth will fit most, but they do vary. It’s probably not a good idea to buy a girth until you know the exact size of the horse.
ive got like a 52"
put the saddle on the horse and measure with one of thos rope measuring tapes and get that size
when i first got my quarter horse i rode in a 48, but now shes put on some pounds and needs a 52. Something along those lines would probably be ok. I’ll bet the dude ranch would have extra girths though if you really need one. You might want to call them and ask
Depending on your horse and the length of the individual saddles billets in a close contact or jumping saddle he will probably need anywhere from a 46 to a 52. I have owned and ridden a bunch of quarter horses and they all were within that range.
The biggest girth my 15.2 hh QH used was a 52", but that was because I was not riding him on a regular basis and he is an easy keeper. 46"-48" are a good size. You can also measure your to find a girth that will fit him.
If your dressage saddle has the long-style billets (the ones that you can see below the flap), you might use about a 44". If you have short billets, try a 48". The QH that I rode was big for his breed; I used a 50 to 52 inch on him. But keep in mind that if you’ve been using a, say, 48 for a while, it has probably stretched out, so it’s more likely a 50 or 52. So compensated for that when you go to the tack shop.
